CSC

CSC – IT Center for Science is a national centre for IT expertise owned by the Finnish state and higher education institutions. CSC enables world-class data management and high-performance computing by providing resources and supporting computational ecosystems; builds digital solutions for data management and services to maximise the value of data; and helps customers and collaborators to leverage AI. CSC offers training on world-class computing and data management environments and various software, methods and secure services to support science, research and product development.

Training and Teaching

The course is divided into six sections: 1) Introduction, 2) Data Management Planing, 3) Data Collection, Documentation and Organization, 4) Computing, Analysing and Storing during the project, 5) Sharing, Publishing and Preserving data, and 6) Discover and Reuse data. The material consists of text, videos, and slides. At the end of each section there is a quiz where you can test your skills.

Doctoral level, Master’s level


This online course consists of 10 topics focusing on using the CSC High Performance Computing environment, which has been tailored for researchers to be easy and efficient for scientific use. The CSC services (Puhti, Allas…) discussed in this course are free-of-charge for academic research, education and training purposes in Finnish higher education institutions and in state research institutes (subsidized by the Ministry of Education and Culture, Finland)..

Doctoral level, Master’s level


You will learn the fundamentals of supercomputers and high performance computing, the essential vocabulary needed to understand what supercomputing really is all about, and what is needed to understand how supercomputers used. By the end of the course, you will have the theoretical knowledge needed to explain the basic principles of a supercomputer and high performance computing. We’ll also take a look at some real-life examples and practical use cases of these amazing machines.
